Well Hello : )

I know it's been a long while (like almost 2 years) since I've done a post like this. I'm lucky if I can post anything anymore, with how busy (and how real) life has gotten since I met Christian (my husband). However, I love writing and I never want to stray too far from it.

Hello everyone!

It's been 1 year (March 18th to be exact) since my seemingly ordinary and well planned life took a very unexpected turn. It's been 3 months (December 27th) since the unexpected turn turned is now becoming a walk down the aisle. 3 months since I've gotten engaged! It's been so incredible! Some people say this is a new chapter in my life, but for me this is a whole new book. A book that's been on the wait list for far too long.

Website: Ivy Loves Christian

Since getting engaged the whole month of January was wedding planning mayhem. I already knew what I wanted my colors to be, yellow and white, and the theme is roses. We're getting married at a renovated Victorian home that has become a beautiful party venue. My dress was ordered after looking for 5 minutes on Ebay. Oh, and did I mention that I'm getting married in June!? I seriously can't believe I'm going to be a June bride! My little 7 year old self would never have believed this 🌹

By the end of January, about 85% of the planning was done. To be honest planning the wedding has been relatively stress free because I knew for so long what I wanted, plus my mom and sisters all have wedding planning talent.

The most important thing Christian and I had to do was look for a home. Now that was stress at its finest. It was not enjoyable at all and we were even scammed out of $600 at one point. However a week after that we managed to find an apartment and in little over 2 weeks were given the keys. I love our new home! It's perfect for us and I'm already looking forward to decorating it, especially since my bridal shower is in a couple of weeks.

Last month Christian and I did an engagement photo session in the place where we had our first date! It was so much fun! Here's a few that we received.

So with all this happiness going on you would think that everything is perfect?

Yeah right.

To make a long story short, I was let go from my job. The same job that Christian and I met at. With all of this newness of getting engaged and starting a new life, I really needed a job especially with monthly rent that has to be paid. The last several weeks at my job were very stressful and anxiety ridden. Actually it's been like this since December. There had been so problems at work, some having to do with my relationship with Christian and others were more personal. For 3 months I tried to make it work. However, my time at my old job was done and in spite of my best efforts, I was let go. To be honest I was relieved. Things at my job were causing severe anxiety.

On a happy note I found a new job the next day! Something totally different, but certainly I'm willing to work hard at. At this point I need a paycheck to help pay for the rent. My career is no longer a priority. My new life with Christian is my sole focus and I know that it's going to be so much more rewarding and fulfilling. Whatever work I do to pay the bills, I know that it's worth it. So if it means having to get up early, learn to drive to new places and put in long hours and physically exhausting labor, I can't complain at all.

So there's a brief update on my life : ) Unfortunately I've had little time to read or do anything besides work. Hopefully after the wedding and I'm settled into my new home, I'll have more time.

BTW: Heidi over at Along the Brandywine has started up her monthly Inklings posts. These are so much fun to do!

Hello and I hope everyone had a fun and active summer! Mine sure was! This was a typical humid summer, but thankfully the days weren't consistently hot either. This summer was also very different for the sole reason that I spent it almost entirely with my boyfriend. Something I never thought would happen, but what a beautiful time it has been!

Hello! I hope everybody had a happy and healthy spring (as in, I hope the seasonal allergies didn't kill you). Here in Virginia the spring was very rainy and unusually cool. Normally the heat hits by about late April to early May, but this year springtime was stretched out. Not necessarily a bad thing either. Spring is oftentimes described as a time of change, of renewal, but also of surprises too. And let me tell you, I've had quite a few surprises since March.

So much has happened since Nov/Dec of last year that I hardly know where to begin! As my last currently post will attest, it's been a crazy end/beginning year for me. The new year started off with some unfortunate drama, but for all that, 2023 has proven to be a good start and God knows I've been needing some solid good in my life.

Happy Fall!

As you can tell by my serious lack of posts, life has been crazy for me. However, I've had very little time for posting all year. A fact I feel awful about because I have so many great ideas! I was nervous about Fall 2022 because if you remember last year's post, I was not in a good place at all. This fall has been very...unexpected...in more good ways then bad though.

🌷 Hello everyone! I hope you all have had a wonderful, relaxing and overall fun summer! Seeing as my last Currently post was so late and actually moved into springtime, I just waited out the rest of spring and went into summer with this update and let me tell you, there's a lot to update!

Well, hello everyone! Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Valentine's Day, Happy St. Patrick's Day and Happy Easter! This year is possibly the first time I haven't made any holiday posts! Anyways, I've been MIA from my blog for awhile and even though I had several posts planned for April, the absence from my blog has been a good thing. There have been some great changes in my life, especially in my work.

To put it simply I finally left my job...sort of...

Currently: Fall 2021

With winter just around the corner and Christmas less than a week away, I figured I should do a recap of Fall. I've actually been purposely putting off doing this post because these last several months have been the darkest and most stressful months I've had in a long while. Emotionally, mentally, physically. At both work and at home. I've sunk into depressions so deep that I was unable to do my job. I ruined my own birthday. I've made enemies at work. I have never felt more alone, afraid and cut off from the world. I've cried more in the last 90 days than I have in my whole life.

So, it's been ages since I've done one of these posts! Summer is just around the corner and that includes my 10 year blogging anniversary on June 25th. 10 years! 10 years I've been on Blogger! I love this blog and everything that I've written, plus all that I've started to write and are still my WIP. I'm not going to go the usual route and do a 'ask me anything,' but rather just give a shoutout to all the people who have followed me and encouraged and inspired me throughout the years. Even people who have left Blogger for other avenues in life or for different social media platforms. I wouldn't have gotten this far without the comments and support I've received from the Blogger community.

So to recap...

It's been a while since I've done one of these posts and what better time write one up then on my birthday. 30. I'm 30 people. I thought it would be awful as I'm still living at home, not married, no children, but to be honest, I'm really looking forward to entering my 30's. I'm not really considered a young adult and it's coming to a point where I'm not caring at all what people say or what I say to people.

Fall has come to Virginia in the most unusual way. It actually feels like falltime. Normally down here, September is the hottest month of the year, but the weather has cooled down considerably and I'm loving it!

My job has been keeping busy and exhausted. With people still leaving I'm basically been employed full time for the rest of the year. So it's 6:00-1:30 everyday with only Sunday off. The paycheck is great, but I'm still struggling with getting up in the morning. I do enjoy working at the front desk and it's really helped me open up more and talk to people.

So here's a list of my currents:

June

Summer has completely flown by! In June the gym opened back up and I returned to my job. I thought it was going to start of slowly.

I thought wrong.

Reading

One of my favorite movies and I've just finally gotten around to reading the book!

JFK's famous campaign trail that was brilliantly organized to every small detail by his own father.

Watching

This show is soooo good! It centers around a family of generational police officers (plus one lawyer). It's surprisingly conservative and the Reagan family have a no bars hold when it comes to their opinions about politics and people.

The Reagans at their now famous after-mass Sunday family dinners. I've heard a lot of good conversations around that table. And it's the one scene in the show I always look forward to.

I just came across this show the other day and I can't stop watching. It ran from 1989-1993 and it's about the day to day life of a junior paper that's run from a comprehensive school in England. Even though it's a children's show, it deals with some heady subjects such as suicide, drugs and abuse.

Spike Thomson and Lynda Day are the lead characters with their own Pride and Prejudice storyline throughout the show. Spike is the rebellious, arrogant American--with a genuine heart for others--who relentlessly chases after Lynda the bossy, by the book golden girl. I love them already!!

Planning

Reviewing all the Harry Potter films. How...I'm not sure. I really enjoy the bullet journal post that I did with the Night at The Museum series. I love Harry Potter and the films are such a big part of my growing up. I feel I would get more nostalgia in the reviews, listing what I like or don't like. Which is why I'm gearing toward the bullet journal style.

Currently (featuring Newt Scamander...and Theseus)

Newt: Me
 Credence/Obscurial: Life

     Hey everyone. Happy December.

Judging by the lone post in November, you can safely assume that I've been rather busy. Well, your assumptions would be correct. (Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving and I hope you all had a good holiday!) My work has been going really well and last month I was given some really long 6-8 hours and working up to five consecutive days. Which is good for me, but definitely tiring! However, the paycheck numbers looked great.

Then when I'm not working afternoons and nights at the Y, my mom has had me in the soap shop doing...just about everything. November is the family business' busiest time with craft shows every single week and sometimes two shows in one weekend. So, unfortunately the site had to take a backseat while this foreign concept called a busy life has taken over. However, that's what I've wanted too. I hate laying around and having nothing to do and now I have two jobs that benefit both me and others. Certainly not complaining.

While the work has been great, other areas of Life have not been. Every year I have to reapply to the company the provides my medication. Usually it's not that bad, but when you're dealing with medication their is always some amount of stress. About a week after I sent off my application, I got a rejection letter telling me that there were a few items on the application missing. I took care of those and in three days I got my medicine. Wonderful.

Then the driver's license drama came. My license had to be renewed and so I went into the DMV and renewed it, a month prior to it being expired. Yet it never came. After three weeks I went back twice and asked about it. They said it was never returned to them and the postal service had a record of it being sent out three days after I applied for it. There was a possibility that it may have been accidentally be thrown away. So, the stress level between work and this drama was at an all time high for me. Finally during Thanksgiving week I applied for another license and it came in a couple of days ago.

Stress level finally goes down and I can enjoy the holidays.

Now things have finally slowed down or worked themselves out and I can finally enjoy the holidays as well as start back on the blog again. I'm rather behind on my book and movie reviews! OH! I saw Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and it was AMMMAZZZING!!!! A movie review is coming up soon. I have no idea how I'm going to do it because there is so much to put in, but I'll try to have it up by this weekend! All I can really say is that it was darker, grittier and infinitely the most complex Wizarding World movie.

And then there is Theseus Scamander...lets just said I went into this movie expecting to hate him and thinking he was going to be a total jerk, but OMG was I wrong! He's the most enjoyable letdown in any Wizarding World story.

I've seen several people do this on their blogs and they seem like fun : )

      Reading:

"A Song of Ice and Fire: A Game of Thrones."

So good! I'm kind of glad I watched the show first, because I have a perfect description of what the characters look like. And some of the scenes in the show are almost in perfect and accurate description of the book.

      Obsessing over:

24 (television show)

The popular Fox show, 24, starring Kiefer Sutherland is like WOW! My parents got me hooked on it and I cannot move when I watch it! I'm about halfway through S1 and I missed several episodes from the beginning, but it's slowly becoming a favorite.

      In love with:

Jack Bauer from 24
I grew up watching Kiefer Sutherland (The Three Musketeers, A Time to Kill, A Few Good Men, Stand By Me) and it's actually great to see him in something where he's not playing a condescending a--hole (Ok, he got some redemption in The Three Musketeers). Jack Bauer is just the all American hero and he's incredibly disciplined and courageous, but also has a deep loving and generous nature, especially toward his wife and daughter. A hard balance for a lead Alpha male, but Kiefer Sutherland pulls it off brilliantly.

      Favorite article of clothing:

Denim jacket

This looks almost identical to the jacket that I bought at the thrift store! I've always wanted to get a denim jacket, because it goes with everything. I love mine!

      Panicking over:

Last semester of college

My final few months which is all history and English, which is great, but it's a heavy load this semester. I'm not going to lie.

      Movie:

27 Dresses

I just finished watching this movie and it's hysterical! I love how it taps into the absolute drama of the wedding franchise and dealt with it in a honest, but humorous light.
