I've Been Dreaming of Downton Abbey: Season Four

6 months after the disastrous ending of season three, Downton Abbey and its residents both upstairs and downstairs embrace the comings and goings of life in the grand estate.

  • At the risk of sounding heartless I felt that Mary's situation in the beginning was long awaited karma for her bitter treatment of her family. And maybe if she had treated others better then she may not have been so isolated in her grief.
  • The Daisy, Alfred, Ivy and Alfred love diamond had more drama that any sappy teenage storyline from Netflix.
  • Edith hiding her Valentine (from Michael), so Mary didn't see it was a very kind gesture.
  • I liked Alfred, but he always looked like he was in constant pain and his overcompensation of his aunt leaving got annoying.
  • I don't understand why people are angry at Rose for O'Brian's decision. It's none of Roses' business what a servant does.
  • Jimmy is literally Thomas 2.0. He was already bad news in season three, but now that he and Thomas are friends, he's become just as smarmy, arrogant and petulant when he doesn't get his way.
  •  Violet's concern for Isobel was so precious. She would never admit it, but Violet did care deeply for Isobel and later on Isobel show the same concern and compassion when Violet gets ill.
  • Nanny West...you bitter, racist hag.
  • Cora is still an angel. Always and forever.
  • Tony Gillingham was a nice fellow, but he was a too...wishy-washy romantic for me. He seems the type that would lack a spine if he ever got into a fight.
  • I can understand why Anna didn't want to tell her husband about her attack. She was 100% correct in what his retaliation would be. It shows how well she really knew him and for her to be that scared of telling him the truth because she knew exactly what he would do is all the more heartbreaking.
  • Robert's disregard for Michael Gregson was so awful, but I don't think he realized how much it really hurt Edith.
  • Cora's face when she saw the American band was so sweet!
  • Just when you think that Rose has grown up a little bit, she converts back to old ways.
  • Jack Ross was a stand-up guy, and he genuinely cared for Rose, but was so much more aware of the situation he and Rose were getting themselves into.
  • Rosamond really shone in this season. Her care for everyone, especially Edith was a hallmark for her character.
  • I had totally forgotten about the abortion clinic scene.
  • Robert was definitely more attentive to Edith in this season, but his concern came too little, too late. Years of never being good enough and being invisible caused Edith to put no trust in her father and instead she lived in fear of him.
  • Edna came back! That trashy little tart trying to bring Tom down. She was the definition of infuriating.
  • What a shock...more men fighting over Mary...
  • It was fun seeing Mrs. Levinson again and she was definitely more likeable than when she appeared in season three.
  •  The high stakes heist storyline for the Christmas Special was a brilliant idea.
