Hamlette's We đŸ’“Pirate's Week has begun!!!

First off, Rachel always has excellent giveaway prizes

Find out more about the prizes and entry here

1. What are your favorite pirate movies or books?

- I have a great deal of nostalgic love for The Pirate's of the Caribbean films, also Muppets Treasure Island and the old Disney film, Blackbeard's Ghost.

2. Who are your favorite fictional pirates?

- Jack Sparrow, obviously.

3. What do you like best about pirate stories? (Themes, costumes, aesthetic, etc.)

- The history. Most pirate stories are based on or inspired by true events.

4. If you were going to play a pirate on the stage or screen, what would your costume look like?

- I actually went as a pirate for a Halloween party once and my costume was similar to this:

It wasn't that low cut though!

However if I were dress up again, then I would take a simpler approach:

5. What pirate ship would you like to serve on?

- The Flying Dutchman

6. Any favorite sea shanties or pirate songs?

- No...

7. Have you ever participated in International Talk Like a Pirate Day?

- No, definitely not.

8. Would you like to go sailing on a real tall ship?

- Yes! I would love to one day!

9. Have you ever learned anything about real pirates, or do you tend to stick to the fictional kind?

- Like my answer to #3, I like the history of pirate lore, so real life pirates I've always found more interesting. Where I live has a great deal of history of Edward Teach or Blackbeard.

10. Why is the rum gone?

- It was never there to begin with.

  1. I dressed up as Jack Sparrow once, but did not look like him at all.
Muppet Treasure Island is a classic.

    1. Jack Sparrow is hard to emulate in looks. They probably did that on purpose too.

  2. I had a puffy white shirt and a bandana as a kid. One Hallowe'en I would wear it with a skirt and be a gypsy, and the next with slacks and be a pirate. Easiest holiday wear ever.

    1. I’ve been a gypsy for Halloween too and it’s definitely my favorite costume to put together.

  3. Ah, great choice with the Flying Dutchman! "Obviously" always follows any question about Jack Sparrow!

  4. How cool that you dressed as a pirate for Halloween once! That's such fun. I used to dress up as a pirate when I was a kid, and I actually had a swoopy-sleeved black silk shirt for a while in college that I called my pirate shirt.

Muppet Treasure Island is awesome fun.
