Agent Carter: Season 2

Season 1 of Agent Carter was such a ride of old fashioned crime solving mixed in with vintage sci-fy action, that of course there needed to be a season 2! While the second installment was good, I don't think the storyline itself was that strong. A great deal of it had to do with scientific discovery of matter, and I was lost most of the time. However, all the characters were on point! Peggy, Jarvis, Daniel and Jack with the addition of several new characters really made the story flow.

Agent Margaret "Peggy" Carter is back on the case and this time in sunny Las Angeles. Picking up a year where season 1 left off, Peggy is continuing to cause waves in the SSR. When Chief Jack Thompson unexpectedly sends her to Las Angeles to work a bizarre murder case with newly appointed Las Angeles SSR Chief, Agent Daniel Sousa, this case begins to take on a life of its own. Peggy, now back with Jarvis, must track down a genius scientist whose creation of Zero Matter begins to wreak havoc on LA and if not stopped, eventually the rest of the world.

☆Of course, it's not all business with Peggy. There is still room for fun and humor and even love...Peggy has also found her place in a world that was once dominated by men. No longer is she just going to take orders from people. She knows her job and what needs to be done and anyone be damned who tries to stand in her way and tell her what to do.

☆ We meet Ana Jarvis, Jarvis' beautiful and sweet wife who is an absolute angel. I liked her so much better than Angie!

☆ Peggy's new love interest is an African-American scientist Jason Wilkes and although I was a little unsure of him at first he grew on me.

☆ Inspiration from real life celebrities Howard Hughes, the billionaire and business man, and Hedy Lamar, the stunning actress and genius scientist, were taken as inspiration for Howard Stark (now a novice movie director) and actress/physicist Whitney Frost.

☆ Daniel Sousa broke my heart from time to time. He's still so in love with Peggy, but is so unsure about his own life and where it'll lead.

☆ Jack Thompson goes through some amazing character development! I mean, he was really an enigma throughout the whole series!

☆ Episode 4, Smoke and Mirrors, was the best episode in the whole series. We get a look at Peggy's life and what eventually led her to join the SSR.

☆ Howard does show up every couple of episodes with his typical brilliant arrogance.

☆ Peggy and Jarvis' have such a wonderful platonic friendship, which gets stronger as the story progresses.

☆ Peggy's wardrobe was amazing!

☆ Jarvis and the flamingo. Legendary.

☆ The last scene with Peggy and Daniel. In his office. In his chair...

☆ The end credit scene with Jack. And we will never know.

Unfortunately due to low viewership, Agent Carter was cancelled after two seasons. A real shame since they really did have some strong characters and great amount of material to work with. Not to mention at least 4 cliffhangers that are now going to keep fans guessing. Seeing Peggy's growth and development from Captain America: The First Avenger, then to Agent Carter is wonderful to watch. She was already an independent free thinking woman during the war, but it was after the war the her real battles began. Whether is was moving on from a broken heart, prejudices and learning how to trust people are all battles we face every single day. Peggy Carter's determination to prove people wrong and her drive to do the job, even when the obstacles seem insurmountable, is always something to admire.

  2. Awe, what a lovely review!! I love this series and am sad they canceled it! Peggy grows so much! Overall I think season 1 was better. Something about Whitney Frost and Wilkes just didn't fit for me with the story. Anna and Jarvis are a cute couple. And the last scene with Peggy and Sousa! :)

    1. There was so much that wasn't tied up in the story, so they were clearly planning on another season and was told of the cancellation after filming.

  3. Yeah, you could tell they had more story planned. Maybe someday it will get renewed.

Just be kind. I don't tolerate any rudeness at all. So just be careful with what you write and how you write it.
