Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh died this morning.

He was 99 years old.

He leaves behind his wife of 73 years, Queen Elizabeth II.

4 children - Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward

8 grandchildren - Peter Phillips, Zara Tindall, Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn

10 great grandchildren - Savannah Phillips, Isla Phillips, Mia Tindall, Lena Tindall, Lucas Tindall, Prince George Cambridge, Princess Charlotte Cambridge, Prince Louis Cambridge, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor and August Brooksbank

Prince Philip is the longest reigning consort in history.

The Duke of Edinburgh was devoted to his Queen, his family and his country.

The man lived an extraordinary and exceptional life as a royal.

I have been waiting so long for a film about young Queen Elizabeth II and about her life with Philip and early years as the queen.

     Today, Queen Elizabeth surpassed her great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria ruling a staggering 63 years! Elizabeth came to the throne at 25 years old and had been married to Prince Philip of Greece for five years and had two small children, Prince Charles and Princess Anne. Eight years later Prince Andrew was born, followed by Prince Edward two years afterwards. 

      Elizabeth was never meant to be queen. She was the oldest daughter of the Duke and Duchess of York, but when King Edward VII abdicated to marry the twice divorcee Wallis Simpson, Elizabeth's father Bertie became King George VI and led Great Britain through the horrors of WWII. Elizabeth learned a great deal from her father as well as from her extraordinary mother, Queen Elizabeth (later the Queen Mum). 

     Princess Elizabeth married her handsome cousin Prince Philip of Greece on November 20, 1947 after a great deal of struggle to get her parents to accept their relationship and Philip. A year later, Prince Charles was born and Princess Anne two years after that. Elizabeth and Philip lived quietly for five years until the King died in 1951 and Elizabeth was declared the new queen. For the next 63 years, she has ruled Great Britain with dignity, calm and absolute honor. She is truly a remarkable woman, wife, mother, grandmother and queen!

Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, has given birth to a baby girl, it was announced Saturday.

Catherine or Princess Kate gave birth at 7:34 a.m. GMT (8.34 a.m. local time) according to an announcement from Kensington Palace. The baby weighs 8lbs 3oz.

The name of the baby has not yet been released. Royal babies are usually named after their ancestors and relatives, though bookmakers’ odds are tipped in favor of Alice and Charlotte.

The birth was announced first on Twitter from Kensington Palace. The Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Prince Harry and the Middletons have been informed.

The new baby will be fourth in line to the throne after Prince Charles, Prince William and older brother Prince George. Prince Harry will become fifth in line and every one else in the line of succession will move one step away from the throne.

The baby will be the first to benefit from changes to the laws of succession, which remove male bias. The baby can no longer be superseded by a younger brother.

The birth took place at the Lindo Wing of the St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, a short drive from Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace. Prince George, his father, and his uncle Prince Harry were born in the same wing.

The delivery team was led by Guy Thorpe-Beeston, Surgeon Gynaecologist to the Royal Household, and assisted by Alan Farthing, Surgeon Gynaecologist to the Queen, who was the fiance of the British television presenter Jill Dando at the time of her unsolved murder in 1999.

Their first son, Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge was born at the same hospital on July 22, 2013 at 4.24 p.m. weighing 8lbs 6oz.

Kensington Palace, the residence of the Cambridge's, announced Princess Kate was pregnant with her second child on Sept. 8, 2014. The news was announced before the pregnancy had reached the 12-week stage because Princess Kate suffered from severe morning sickness, which forced her to cancel public engagements including a trip to Malta.
