The party has arrived!

The Tag

1. Who first introduced you to Middle Earth?

- I found out about Middle-Earth and Tolkien from the first film, but my brother and sister were the ones who really got me interested in it as a whole.

2. Has your love of Middle-earth affected your life?

- It's definitely made me appreciate the beauty of the Earth as well as a better understanding of fantasy and stories and how they're not just for children.

3. Have you ever dressed up like a Tolkien character?

- Have I....I don't think so, but I'm sure I could get by dressing up as a Hobbit.

4. What people in your real life would you want in your company if you had to take the ring to Mordor?

- Simple. My siblings + both of my brothers-in-law + my niece. We're already a company in itself.

5. What Middle-earth location would you most like to visit?

- It's always been a tossup between Rivendell and The Shire.

6. Are there any secondary characters you think deserve more attention?

- Celeborn, Galadriel's husband, who was seriously downplayed in the films and was so much than just the second in command in Lothlorien.

Also, Elrond's twin sons, Elladan and Elrohir. Not much is known about them, except they oftentimes hunted with the Rangers of the North (tracking down the Orcs that assaulted their mother years before) and also that they stayed in Middle-Earth with their sister, however, their reasons for staying were never clearly stated. Twins are always such great characters to read about and it's a shame that Tolkien just casually mentioned them, especially since their father was such a powerful figure in the story. If they aren't going to play a role, why bother writing them in the first place??

7. Would you rather attend Faramir's wedding or Samwise's wedding?

- Samwise's country affair!

8. How many books by J.R.R. Tolkien have you read?

- 4. The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings trilogy.

9. Are there any books about Middle-earth or Professor Tolkien (but not written by him) that you recommend?

- Besides the movie companions and guides that I've collected from the films, then I don't believe I have any recommendations for now.

10. List up to ten of your favorite lines/quotations from the Middle-earth books and/or movies.

"Deeds will not be less valiant because they are unpraised." - Aragorn

"Let him not vow to walk in the dark, who has not seen the nightfall." - Elrond

"A hunted man sometime wearies of distrust and longs for friendship." - Aragorn

"Despair is only for those who see the end beyond all doubt. We do not." - Gandalf

"I would rather face one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone." - Arwen

"The wide world is all about you: you can fence yourselves in, but you cannot forever fence it out." - Gildor

"Don't adventures ever have an end? I suppose not. Someone else always has to carry on the story." - Gandalf

"I don't know half of you half as well a I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve." - Bilbo Baggins

"Do not be so quick to deal out death and judgement. Even the very wise do not see all ends." - Gandalf

"It is no bad thing to celebrate a simple life."- Bilbo Baggins

  1. #4 - I suppose it would be good to have your siblings and in-laws to accompany you on a hard task.

#6 - I don't like Celeborn at all but I'm judging him from the book so perhaps his character is much better in the movies.

#10 - All good quotes. I think Gandalf especially said a lot of thoughtful and wise things.

    Have a lovely day.

    1. It probably wouldn't be any different from any other family trip we take either.

That's a shame. I really liked Celeborn in the books and felt he was severely downplayed in the movies.

It was actually really hard to choose from all the quotes that I had looked up online, but Gandalf did say some remarkable words.

  2. Having family along on the quest is popular and definitely not a bad thing. :-)

  3. Excellent GIF usage!

Both the Shire and Rivendell would be so delightful to visit. And restful.

YES YES YES to Celeborn and Elrohir and Elladin not getting enough attention! It's just wrong how overlooked they are. Such wisdom, such courage!

I have several of the movie guides for the LOTR and Hobbit movies too. Which my kids didn't realize for a long time, and now they borrow them allll the time :-D

    Thanks for joining the party!

    1. Thanks! I love using GIFs!

I'm country girl at heart so it makes sense that I would want to live at either one of those locations. Also Beorn's farm as well.

Thank you! I seem to be so alone in my opinions about them!

I collected all of the movie guides and companions to The Hobbit trilogy and they're just beautiful.

It was wonderful! Thank you for hosting!

Thank you for your comments : )

I love getting comments, long or short, whether you agree with me or not. .

Just be kind. I don't tolerate any rudeness at all. So just be careful with what you write and how you write it.
