Getting on Board with Il Volo

Has anyone ever heard of these guys?? Il Volo (Italian for 'the flight'), an Italian trio of young operatic voices that were brought together in 2009. I remember watching them on PBS specials all the time and always thought they were super cute boys.

 And then they just seemed to grow up over night. 

Piero Barone - 28

• From Sicily

• The most traditional in terms of music preferences

• Has the most powerful singing voice, but is actually very soft spoken

• For years he was known for his red glasses

• Tends to be the most practical and pragmatic of the group

• Is Ignazio's partner in crime

• When they were younger he seemed to spoil Gianluca a great deal

• It's incredible how growing out his beard makes him look more mature without aging him entirely (personally he should keep the beard!)

Ignazio Boschetto - 27

• Is also Sicilian 

• The least traditional regarding music preference

• When he sings modern, pop songs you would never think he's classically trained

• He is hysterical and has a remarkable stage presence!

• Is always bickering with the other two or making fun of them (especially Gianluca)

• Is the definition of Nevilled

• My sister's favorite

• He has faced immense adversity in his life and still manages to gracefully go on. 

Gianluca Ginoble - 26

• From Abruzzo

• The baby of the group

• Has always been adorable and never really had an awkward/ugly stage

• Is oftentimes referred to by fans as 'the Prince' or 'Prince Charming'

• Tends to balance out his musical preferences

• Speaks the best English and is forever correcting the other two

• Has a very deep fluid voice that's reminiscent of Elvis

• It's hard to have favorites but he would probably be mine in terms of voice

Ok, so besides the fact that they are obviously beautiful and easy to look at, they're amazingly talented!

My mom and sister also really enjoy their music which is a mix of traditional Italian songs and popular music culminated over the years. After watching their most recent PBS special, I just fell in love with their newest project, a tribute to legendary composer, Ennio Morricone, who has always been a favorite of mine as well.
