Hart of Dixie - Seasons' 3 & 4

I really felt like I hit gold with this show. Bluebell, Alabama and it's zany, but lovable residents made you feel at home for 40 min. and you don't want to leave. Season 3 had its strengths and its weaknesses. Somebody referred to season 3 as the season of useless relationships. While I can agree with that, this season had some very strong relationships. Actually this whole season was about relationships. While season 2 was character development, season 3 was growth in love and loss.

Season 3

After her unexpected and abrupt takeoff to New York, Zoe returns to a not so friendly Bluebell. Having to hammer out a few issues down South, Zoe believes that she's only going to stay a few days. However, in Bluebell, nothing ever turns out that way we want them. Shortly after Zoe returns to Bluebell, she's followed by her New York boyfriend, Joel Stephens, an author going through severe writer's block. Joel is a good match for Zoe. Although it takes a while, Joel eventually wins over the people of Bluebell with his awkward charm and ability to adapt to his surroundings. While Zoe may be content with Joel, her former Southern flame is still present in her life.

If anyone knows the meaning of learning from their mistakes, it's Wade Kinsella. After badly hurting Zoe the year before, Wade slowly gets his life back together. Overtime, he begins to mature and grow from the reckless and wild bad boy, to a respectable citizen of Bluebell. Wade takes over the town's bar and grill, The Rammer Jammer, finally fulfilling his dream of having his own business. And then he gets into his first serious relationship with a young single mother. Both of these experiences help Wade go above and beyond what he thought was possible. Being a business owner is no small deal and dating a mom with a difficult child is completely new territory for him. The life that Wade always wanted was there, he only had to learn to work and fight for it.

Meanwhile, Bluebell's most beloved Belle has no problem getting into her own shenanigans. Lemon Breeland may be at many crossroads in her life, whether it's her family, love life or unexpected career opportunities, but she takes them all on in typical headstrong Lemon fashion. Lemon was absent during a good part of the show (that's when the show started to drag), but when she returned, she came back with a bang. Bluebell's feisty spirit never lets her town or the people she loves down. Her life is her own to make it as she sees fit and woe be to anyone who tells her otherwise.

George and Lavon are...well still George and Lavon. Best friends and partners in crime, both dealing with their own personal issues as best they can. George goes through a string of relationships, some good and some not so good, but he never seems to get to the happiness he's looking for. This can be due to the fact that he tends to date incredibly insecure woman. His life with Lemon is still there in the back of his mind. And unfortunately, he can't seem to let her go or find any woman that can truly measure up to her.

Lavon Hayes. Still Bluebell's favorite mayor who will always thinks of the well being of its citizens. Lavon's primary concern is saving Bluebell from a town merger with the rival town of Fillmore which is headed by his arch enemy, Mayor Gainey. And when not saving his town, he continues to be the constant support for his friends. Yet, even Lavon is not immune from mistakes, especially with the women in his life.

Season 4

When Zoe finds out that she's pregnant with Wade's child, everything she thought she knew about life goes out the window. Yet, this doesn't pull her down. She's determined to have this baby, with or without Wade's support. By now, Wade is no longer the carefree, philandering man child she met four years ago. Life, love, mistakes, memories, responsibility and reconciliation has molded him into the good and decent man that Zoe always saw in him. And Wade is determined to prove that to Zoe, the town and anyone else that may question him. This time Wade won't abandon Zoe or let her down. This unexpected child brings the both of them together, realizing that they need one another's strengths and weaknesses in their lives.

All of Bluebell goes through their own changes. Relationships are brought together and become stronger. George, Lavon and Lemon all come to their own understanding of where their lives are meant to be and who they're meant to be with. With only 10 episodes there's a lot that needed to be tied up, but it was accomplished with no small amount of music, humor and boundless Bluebell charm.

Never have I been so glad to find such a feel good show as this! Hart of Dixie was a fun filled ride with amazing characters and extraordinary character development. Wade's growth was wonderful to follow and while you despise his mistakes, you can never really hate him at all. Lemon Breeland went from the mean girl next door, to the best friend we all hope to have and the type of strong women we should aspire to be. The only person who really didn't have a great deal of development was Zoe herself. The writing for the lead character was rather bad and they could have done so much better with such a fun character as Zoe Hart.

All in all, a good and strong show. Any rom-com lover will enjoy it. Also the brilliant and gorgeous costumes and the great country music brought great quality to the show. Hart of Dixie is television gold that cannot be underestimated or overlooked.

Just be kind. I don't tolerate any rudeness at all. So just be careful with what you write and how you write it.
