October Prompt
A scene by a lake in a book or film
Ever After (1998)
The irresistibly romantic and breathtaking interpretation of the classic Cinderella story, Ever After takes place during the Renaissance in the time of Michelangelo and DaVinci. After two chance meetings with the arrogant crown prince of France, one while a servant and the other as impersonating a courtier, Danielle knows that her life will never be among the royalty.
When the news of the masked ball is announced, Danielle is shocked that her stepmother is considering inviting her. While working out in the forest, Danielle takes stock of her shabby appearance and decides to have a swim in the lake. However, unbeknownst to her, both the prince and the artist is residence, Leonardo da Vinci are also at the lake.
As da Vinci is 'walking on water' in his newest invention, he hilariously comes across Danielle as she's deep in her swim. They wade/walk back to the shore where Danielle is brought face to face with Prince Henry for the third time in one day.
Aww... I'm so happy you highlighted this scene!!! I've seriously been in quite the Ever After mood for the last week. (Btw, when I got married, I walked down the aisle to the trumpet piece that plays when Danielle is running up to the castle. <3) Most recently, though, I hadn't rewatched it for a few years, but thought my daughter's finally juuuust old enough to follow the story, so pulled it out the other day and we had a special mother-daughter evening watching it. And it was just as breathtaking as I remembered. (Such a relief! xD) Anyhow, yeah, I fell in love with it again all over. And this particular scene... she was laughing out loud so hard. XD We had to rewatch it a couple times. It's seriously so delightfully funny. <3
