We Love Musicals Kick-Off Tag + Giveaway

Hamlette's We Love Musicals Week is here!

To be honest I had been hoping that someone would do a musical themed blog party seeing as they are one of my favorite genres : )

As is typical with Rachel she has some wonderful giveaways which you can view here

>>The We Love Musicals Tag<<

1. What are your favorite musicals? (Tell us a top 3 to 5, that sort of thing.)

- Their ability to tell a story through more mediums than just dialogue. One song can tell an entire story (I Dreamed a Dream for example) than a whole page of dialogue.

3. What's the first musical you can remember seeing?

- On film (and not counting Disney films) it was probably Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. On stage I think it was Les Miserables.

4. Have you ever seen a live musical onstage?

- Yes! Quite a few! I've seen CATs twice, The Phantom of the Opera three times (I think), Les Miserables four times, Matilda Jr., Newsies, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, and also school productions of The Wizard of Oz and The Little Mermaid.

5. Have you ever performed in a musical?

- Only in Church productions.

6. Do you periodically dance about and burst into song in real life?

- No, but I do tend to get songs stuck in my head (Primarily from Grease and West Side Story) and I find myself frequently singing all the time.

7. What's the newest movie musical you've seen?

8. What's the oldest movie musical you've seen?

9. What's the last musical you watched?

- Wicked

10. What musical do you hope to watch for the first time soon?

- Meet Me in St. Louis. I've heard so much about it, but I've never had an opportunity to see it.

  1. I love Les Miserables, too! I've never seen the stage version, only the 2012 film.

  2. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is always a fun time ;) And I will always love Les Mis. <3

I had very similar thoughts to your answer to #2! I love what a unique storytelling medium musicals are.

    1. Seven Brides will always have a special place in my heart because of "June Bride." Because of that song I always wanted to get married in and that's exactly what happened!

  3. Haha! Our oldest and newest answers match :-D

I forgot about Cats. I've seen that onstage too. So weird.

Meet Me in St. Louis is marvelous! It cannot be overhyped.

    Thanks for joining the party!

    1. Cats is an excellent show, you just have to take it with a grain of salt. It's not mean to make sense. You never look at your own cats the same way after seeing it.

I cant' wait to watch it Meet Me in St. Louis! I've heard so much about it!

Thank you for hosting! I've been so busy in the last year that I've had no time for any blogging fun and this blog party was what I needed!

  4. Newsies is ridiculously fun and I will always be down to scream out "AND THE WORLD WILL KNOW! AND THE JOURNAL, TOO!"

Oh, I should watch the new version of "West Side Story"! I've never seen Rachel Ziegler in anything but she seems really sweet in interviews.

    1. The fact that Newsies is based on a true story makes it all the more appealing as well.

I love, love, both versions of West Side Story! I agree with you about Rachel Ziegler too. It's too bad she's gotten so much hate and I don't support it at all. I learned that the hard way in 2019 during the anti-Brie Larson drama and it was so unnecessary.

  5. You had me with Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, West Side Story, Newsies, and Oklahoma! All wonderful choices. P. S. Your blog is lovely :)

Thank you for your comments : )

I love getting comments, long or short, whether you agree with me or not. .

Just be kind. I don't tolerate any rudeness at all. So just be careful with what you write and how you write it.
