Me: Heidi (my older sister), Catching Fire is coming out the day before my birthday.
Heidi: Is that suppose to mean something?
Yeah...it's official, I have finally become a Hunger Games fan. I had been wanting to the read the books and then proceed to see the movie, but it ended up working backwards. I have really, really had fun discovering the world of The Hunger Games and understanding why people love it so much.
I saw the movie about 3 weeks ago and was absolutely astounded by the overall storytelling. In a world that is so dominated by shallow romances and horror stories, I was impressed by the sheer honesty of genuine humanity that was found in Katniss Everdeen and how she brought the Hunger Games to the audience. It's not a children's story, but it is a story that questions the human soul.
If I had an opportunity to do something right, even if it meant death, would I do it?
I'm about half-way through the first book; I stayed up until 1 in the morning reading, which wasn't good, because I had school in the morning! It was worth it though!
So! Like I had with The Hobbit last year, there is a check list I want to fulfill before the next movie comes out.
Read The Hunger Games
Read Catching Fire
Read Mockingjay
See (buy) The Hunger Games
My school is awesome, because I can buy the books there for a good price and they almost always have them in stock!
I have yet to read or see "The Hunger Games," but I feel like I should just because nearly everyone I know has read/seen them, and yeah... I'm starting to feel like I'm missing out.
ReplyDeleteGood luck reading all three before November! From what I hear, they go fast.
I have "issues" with this story but am going to eventually finish the book series and am curious about Catching Fire (movie).
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy seeing it as a fun birthday outing, Ivy.
Aw, yes, the deep part of the book is what captured me. Without it, I would actually despise the story. But because it is there, it draws me in.
