Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

A Halloween merry, A Halloween bright,
Though pumpkins make faces
and ghosts walk at night.
Let no noises scare you, and don't start to run.
For tis but a joke, and Halloween fun.

Shot Through The Heart...by Oliver Queen/Green Arrow

Oliver Queen and Clark Kent
Ok, so cheesy title, but it's a very fitting one too. While my family and I continue our obsession with Smallville, we've met a new character and superhero who may just take Clark's place in my heart...(and that's saying something, because I LOVE Clark). So as you can tell by my fall layout, it's in honor of my new favorite superhero, Oliver Queen, otherwise known as, The Green Arrow.

Justin Hartley as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow in
Smallville
Now, normally I don't for the blonde, slender, pretty boy types and I was prepared to like him, but not get crazy over him. However, Oliver's generosity, bravery, and honor that can match Clark's to perfection completely won me over! Similar to Batman, Oliver is a billionaire orphan who spends his days hobnobbing with the wealthy and nights defending the poor common man. He was patterned to be DC's version of Robin Hood who wears all green, has an arsenal of arrows, and protects the destitute from the higher ups in society.

What makes Oliver different from Clark (and most other superheros) is that he is more focused on fighting the villainous social system than just fighting out-of-earth villains. Oliver fights poverty, racism, prostitution, AIDs, drug abuse, and social injustice. Also, unlike Batman, Oliver has a pacifist attitude and will not kill his enemies. Oliver is also one of a handful of people who is not afraid to challenge the all powerful Luthors, especially since he and Lex went to the same school together as boys. Now it's made clear early on that Oliver is no saint and he regrets many mistakes he made in the past, most especially one during his time at school that involved Lex. Where Lex can never forgive or forget, Oliver has the courage to move on and see life outside his office window.

Green Arrow has been one of DC's most famous and well loved superheros for over 70 years and his presence on Smallville is much needed for a counterpart for Clark Kent. While Clark still constantly worries over his abilities being discovered, Oliver tells him bluntly to get off his ass and use his powers for the world outside of Smallville. That there are people that need to be protected, that it's more than just aliens and kryptonite, but rather poverty, crime wars, and social infliction. And really, that's something that Clark needs to hear.

This documentary was on Season 6 and was a great watch for the creation and legend of Green Arrow.

The Knight In The Family

Everyone loves learning about their family history, my family's history is especially interesting, mostly to the fact that we had a knight in our family, Ritter Baldebert von Wolfensberger. My dad's side of the family originated from Wolfensberg, Switzerland which was a French canton and they could have claimed that area had it not been taken back by France.

Lord Ritter
Lady Katrina
Not much is known about Ritter von Wolfensberger. He was born in 1233 and died in 1259 at a very young age of 26 while outside of Switzerland during the 3rd crusade. Less is even known about his family before and after him. He was married to Lady Katherine/Katrina and had at least two children, possibly three. There really is no other information about Ritter, Katrina, or their family. All I know that my family are intrigued by the idea that we had a knight in the Middle Ages! And what information I d have could possibly make for a very good novel....maybe??

My Letter to Tumblr

I just posted this letter to Tumblr in regards to my growing aggravation of fans bringing their political agenda into certain television shows. And seeing as this site is like a baby sister to me and many people who follow me also watch the same shows that I mention, it's only fair I share the letter on here as well.

~ ~ ~

DEAR TUMBLR

As much as I admire the fact that this social network has become a wonderful sounding board for political and social opinions, however, some sounding boards need to be silenced.

To put it simply….

Tumblr, STOP bringing your political agenda into today’s television shows! Shows like Supernatural and British dramas, such as Downton Abbey and Sherlock and Doctor Who are meant for one reason and one reason alone, TO ENTERTAIN! They HAVE NOT been created to stir up political controversy.

Complaining about how creative, well-written, well-acted, and award winning shows are either racist or misogynistic is waste of time and energy and proves that you have clearly missed the true meaning of the stories that are being shown.

Supernatural is not a misogynistic show just because it has an all male cast and they are not anti-gay because they refuse to give in to the Destial ship. If you’re so concerned about lack of romance, that’s what we have fan-fiction for. And even if they did bring on a female lead for a romantic interest, all you would do is whine and complain about what a b*tch she is. This show has been on for 10 years and has done just fine without serious romances to distract from the real relationship in the show which is Dean and Sam’s bond as brothers, friends and hunters.

British television drama in not racist because they have all primarily white casts. This may come as a shock to you, but there are a lot of white people in Britain.

Downton Abbey is keeping up with its historical accuracy with it’s white upstairs/downstairs residents. There were black people in England, but they lived in the cities and not in the country. Learn your history before you attack someone elses!

Just because the only black character in Sherlock is a snobby black woman doesn't make it either racist or misogynistic. It’s called great casting and Vinette Robinson did a great job at pulling off a thoroughly unlikable character.

Doctor Who has been around for over 50 years. So stop complaining on how the fate of the world is in the hands of white guy. That’s the way the story is written and that’s how people remember it. The Doctor (for now) is white and the embodiment on how the world views Great Britain.

Not to say that there can’t be a black Doctor, I would love to see one myself and maybe it will happen…one day. For now the Doctor is a white old guy who got the Tardis key to save the world.

There is a time and place for everything, but fandoms and television shows is neither the time or the place for political distress. If you have such a problem with the shows, STOP WATCHING THEM and leave the more well adjusted fans to the enjoyment of the fandom world.

After nine years together, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have finally gotten married.

While their union was one of the most-anticipated in Hollywood history, the A-list couple managed to get hitched secretly in the France hamlet of Correns on Saturday, a spokesman for the pair says, according to The Associated Press.

The pair was spotted arriving with their children in tow at Nice airport in France on Friday via private jet and were believed to be heading to Provence's Chateau Miraval, the wine chateau in the village of Correns that they've been leasing since 2008,The Daily Mail reported.

On Saturday they tied the knot at Chateau Miraval in a private nondenominational civil ceremony at a small chapel attended by family and friends, the rep told the AP. Ahead of their nuptials Pitt and Jolie, 39, obtained a marriage license from a local California judge, who also officiated their ceremony in France.

The couple's six children also chipped in at the nuptials. The "Maleficent" star was walked down the aisle by eldest sons Maddox, 13, and Pax, 10. Daughters Zahara, 9, and Vivienne, 6, threw petals while Shiloh, 8, and Knox, 6, served as ring bearers, the spokesman said.

While no photos of their big day have been released, a source told E! Newsthat Jolie wore a "very traditional, but very Angie" dress that was "comfortable but plain white floor-length antique lace and silk."

The brunette beauty reportedly accessorized with "a small gold locket with a photo of her mom (Marcheline Bertrand) inside it." It's said the locket once belonged to Jolie's late mother.

"Brad lifted (her veil) and gasped because she looked so stunning," the source continued.

"The boys all wore tiny matching cream linen suits which were just like Brad's (tux)," the insider added. "The girls had each chosen a dress to match their own individual style and they had them specially made."

Pitt, 50, wasted no time sporting his new accessory, which was supposedly "designed by their good friend Robert Procop." The "World War Z" star was spotted Thursday at a photocall for his upcomng film "Fury" at The Tank Museum in Bovington, Dorset in England wearing his ring.

Jolie and Pitt began dating shortly after the "Moneyball" star ended his five-year marriage to Jennifer Aniston. They engaged in 2012 but indicated they'd wait to get married until gay marriage was legal.

"It's an exciting prospect, even though for us, we've gone further than that," Pitt told The AP in November 2012 about the idea of marrying Jolie. "But to concretize in that way, it actually means more to me than I thought it would. It means a lot to our kids."

The couple have three biological children -- Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne -- and adopted Maddox from Cambodia; Pax from Vietnam; and Zahara from Ethiopia.

Like Pitt, Jolie has also been previously married. In fact, she's been married twice, first to British actor Jonny Lee Miller for three years in the late '90s and then for three more years to Billy Bob Thornton. They divorced in 2003.

Early Thursday morning, "Inside Edition" spoke to the 75-year-old actor and asked about his daughter's wedding, which he said he didn' t know about.Missin in action from Saturday's ceremony was Jolie's father and only living parent, Jon Voight, who was in Los Angeles attending various Emmys events. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a drama for "Ray Donovan."

"That's nice," he said when asked to comment.

The newlyweds' pal, George Clooney, was a bit more enthusiastic in his reaction to the news.

"How great is that?!" he told E! News. "I'm really happy for Brad and Angie and their whole family."

Brangelina will soon begin filming their first movie together since 2005's "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." Ironically, their next project, "By The Sea," which has been described as an "intimate character-driven drama" includes the pair getting married on-screen.

Working together is not the norm for the two highly sought after thespians. Still, they've managed to keep their love alive by engaging in deeply romantic gestures, like writing handwritten love letters to one another when they're not able to be together.

"We wrote handwritten letters to each other that were very connecting for us,"Jolie told Australia's TV Week magazine in July. "He was supportive from a distance, and it was quite romantic in a way."

Reps for the actors have yet to respond to the Daily News' request for comment.

At the Maleficent premiere
While some people may gag at this news, I am really happy for them and their children. They are an admirable couple, not just in their successful careers, but also as parents and in their philanthropic advances for better lives for women and children across the globe. As I wrote a few years ago in my first movie review, Legends of The Fall, I had stated that I never cared for Brad Pitt, one of the reasons was that he left his former wife for Angelina Jolie. Now, that I look back, I'm somewhat ashamed, because I really didn't know anything about him or his family, and after I've read more about the Jolie-Pitt family as well as what an extraordinary woman Angelina Jolie is I've learned not to judge others by what everyone else may say about them. Also, it's good to be reading about a wedding and family in America, especially when both seem to be under constant attack today.

Congratulations to the both of you and your family!

Proof That I'm a Person

I don't think I've ever posted a picture of myself before, but anyways, this is what I look like (yes, it's been slightly touched up.)
