Downton Abbey Confession #20

I was actually surprised when I realized that everything that Charles did to get Mary out of her relationship with Tony was solely for Mary's benefit, 
not his own. 
"Quick! Kiss me!!"
He wasn't trying to get Mary for himself at all, he was doing it out of pure friendship.

How very...Matthew(ish) of him...

    I just recently watched the first season of Downton and I was pleasantly surprised! I need to catch up on more recent seasons..
